It does not look dangerous. A tank, a vault, a pit, a manhole, a silo. People climb into them every day and climb back out. And then one day the air inside is wrong, or a valve was not locked, and a worker goes down in seconds. The most chilling part: the coworker who rushes in to help is often the second person to die. This course is built so that never happens on your crew.
This is plain-language, awareness-level theory on recognizing confined spaces, telling a confined space from a permit-required one, the roles that keep an entry safe, atmospheric testing, isolation and ventilation, the entry permit, and why a real rescue plan is not “call 911.” It supports OSHA 1910.146 and 1926 Subpart AA and prepares you for the hands-on permit and rescue practice that authorization requires.
What this course does and does not do
It does: build recognition of confined and permit-required spaces, the entry roles, atmospheric and engulfment hazards, isolation, ventilation, permits, and rescue awareness, aligned to OSHA 1910.146 and 1926 Subpart AA.
It does not: authorize you to enter a permit-required confined space. Entry requires your employer’s written permit-space program, site-specific procedures, equipment, atmospheric testing by trained people, a rescue plan, and documented practical training. This is the theory that gets you ready for that.
