The most dangerous power line on the job is often the one you cannot see, buried a few feet under the dirt you are about to dig. This course teaches you to know it is there, respect it, and keep your whole crew out of its path.
An overhead power line tells you where it is. It hangs in plain sight, and you can keep your distance and your equipment away from it. The buried line does none of that. It runs silently under the ground you stand on, the lot you trench, the street you cut, with no hum, no glow, no warning at all. A crew can set up and dig directly over an energized primary cable and never know it is there, until a shovel or an excavator bucket finds it. When that happens, there is no second chance to react. The fault is instant, the arc is violent, and the worker who struck it may never get the warning that overhead lines give for free.
Buried electrical hazards are not rare or exotic. Distribution systems run underground through almost every developed area: primary cables, concrete duct banks, manholes and vaults, pad-mounted transformers, and the secondary services that feed buildings. Most of the time these systems do their job quietly and no one thinks about them. The danger shows up the moment someone disturbs the ground without knowing what is under it, or opens a vault without treating it for what it is. This course takes those hazards apart so you can recognize them, work around them the right way, and never become the reason a fault goes off.
